Destination MOZAMBIQUE
Mozambique is a sun-filled relaxing beach experience. It's got the prerequisite tropical white sand, puffy white clouds and the warm Indian Ocean. Three major African rivers, the Zambezi, the Save and the Limpopo, drain through expansive flat floodplains to the ocean.
Longer than the United States' 2500 kilometre west coast, Flying low level the coastline seems endless.
Two archipelagos, Bazaruto in the south and Quirimba in the north hug the coast like small marine outposts that proudly protect some of the best coral in the world. A selection of luxury barefoot lodges, each with their own personalities and designs have scattered themselves over most of the islands in the archipelagos.
A legacy of over four hundred years of Portuguese colonial rule imprinted a strong flair of Portuguese language, Portuguese food and Portuguese cultural traits on a rural population of eighteen million.
From the Captain's Blog:
"I am always searching for out-of-the-way wilderness destinations to fit into adventure itineraries. I have found three in Mozambique:
Nkwichi on Lake Niassa looks out over one of the world's largest freshwater lakes. Fluorescent colored fish swim in rock pools filled with crystal clear water, amongst smooth ancient boulders. A white sandy is backed by pristine green forest. If you can't relax here you can't relax anywhere in the world."
